The Military Order of the Purple Heart - Alamo Chapter 1836 represents more than 730 members in and around the San Antonio, Texas area. Each member is a Purple Heart recipient and welcomes all Veterans, Purple Heart recipients and their families. The Chapter meets once a month at VFW Post 8541 located at 2222 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX at 9:30 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month.
The Chapter's members are Purple Heart recipients that have earned the Purple Heart Medal in campaigns that include World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extincation. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same.

The Auxiliary of the Alamo Chapter 1836 meets once a month at VFW Post 8541 located at 2222 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX at 9:30 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month.
Membership in the Auxiliary shall be limited to mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, widows, widowers, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, granddaughters, grandsons, adopted daughters, adopted sons and direct lineal female or male descendants of persons who have been awarded the Purple Heart by the Armed Forces of the United States and to men/women who served in the Armed Forces and have received the Purple Heart decoration in their own name. Associate membership in the Auxiliary is granted on the basis of a male/female parent, or lineal descendant of a member in the Auxiliary. All membership shall be governed by the provisions of Article II of the National Auxiliary Bylaws. The Senior Vice President is usually (but not always) the Membership Chairman. When contacting eligible members, it is important to verify the award of the Purple Heart medal. Many individuals are eligible to be awarded the medal but did not receive it. In this case, a Service Officer can assist them.
