Jordan Love injury update: Packers quarterback will not practice on Wednesday

play

GREEN BAY – Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love had to cancel practice on Wednesday.

Love suffered a groin injury early in the Packers' 30-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. He played through the injury for two quarters but ultimately left the game early in the third quarter.

He was replaced by Malik Willis, who ultimately played a big part in the victory. Willis completed 4 of 5 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown (152.9 passer rating).

Love underwent an MRI scan on Monday and the test showed it was not something that would keep Love out of action long-term. However, his status for Sunday's game against the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions (6-1) at Lambeau Field is as of today, a source told the Journal Sentinel.

Willis took over quarterback reps on Wednesday along with practice squad quarterback Sean Clifford.

Willis is 2-0 as a starter with wins against the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans after Love suffered an MCL sprain in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.

Love has 1,547 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 9 interceptions this season.
