Man arrested for using shotgun to damage parts of Grass Lake village

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A Grass Lake man was arrested late Tuesday night after firing a shotgun at several parts of his small town's downtown area.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, police were called to the area of ​​North Lae Road and East Michigan Avenue at 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, for a report of multiple shots fired in the area.

Officers searched the area and found the 26-year-old suspect hiding in some nearby bushes, where they also found several spent and live shotgun shells, police said.

Officers found damage to a nearby barn light, a gas station camera and a shot Amtrak sign, police said.

Investigators later found a shotgun and other live ammunition at the man's Grass Lake home, police said.

The man was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail where he is awaiting arraignment on charges of malicious damage to property and illegal discharge of a firearm.

The Jackson Sheriff's Office contacted Amtrak Police about the damage to their property.
