New weight for undercard fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul | Boxing | sport

The highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano – on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul – is set for next month at a catchweight of 138 pounds and is generating a lot of buzz in the boxing world.

In their first meeting in 2022, Taylor narrowly secured victory with a split decision. While some voices within the boxing community have argued that Serrano may have done enough to secure the victory, the upcoming fight will provide the opportunity for a clear conclusion.

At the age of 38, Katie Taylor takes part in this fight having recently defeated Chantelle Cameron, which not only marked her revenge on the Brit, but also cemented her status as the undisputed two-weight world champion. On the other hand, “The Real Deal” Serrano delivered an impressive performance by defeating Stevie Morgan with a knockout last July.

As they prepare for their super lightweight title fight next month, it was expected to take place at the division's standard weight at 140 pounds. However, Taylor has now confirmed a slight weight adjustment.

In an interview with the Irish Mirror, Taylor said: “To be honest I think we’re probably the same size. The fight was actually done at 138, it's a catchweight, but I think if you look at me and Serrano, we're the same size.

“I could get to 126 pounds if I tried. I don't think she's looked particularly good in the last few fights at this weight. She looks exhausted from doing that weight, so I don't know if it's a benefit or not, but “I definitely feel good at this weight, I feel strong at this weight.”

Taylor recently spoke out about speculation surrounding her future in boxing, particularly after celebrating her 38th birthday last July. The Bray fighter insists she is not hanging up her gloves just yet.

Speaking to Off The Ball, she said: “Yeah, I think that part of my life doesn’t bother me. Once I give up the gloves and the sport, I will be very satisfied that I gave everything that I could in the last few years.

“I have dedicated my entire life to sports – both as a professional and as an amateur. Since I first put on a pair of gloves when I was 9 or 10, I have enjoyed every single moment of them. I learned a lot about myself and the ups and downs of the sport.

“But all of those moments also led me to this moment. That's why I'm very excited to see what will happen on November 15th. But when it comes time to retire from sports, I think I will enjoy this part of my life.”
