Man arrested after shooting his toe

DRYDEN, N.Y. (WBNG) – New York State Police arrested a man after he shot himself in the toe.

According to state police, troopers arrested 21-year-old Jacub J. Hemingway of Ithaca on Oct. 21. He is charged with a felony weapons charge and a misdemeanor weapons charge.

According to police, around 5 a.m. on October 16, officers responded to a residence on Lake Country Avenue in the Town of Dryden for a report of an accidental self-inflicted shotgun wound to a person's toe.

Officers learned that when they arrived at the apartment, Hemingway had already been taken by private vehicle to Cortland Guthrie Medical Center for treatment.

An investigation at the residence revealed that Hemingway owned three firearms but did not have a firearms permit. Police noted that Hemingway was also found to have brass knuckles.

Hemingway was arraigned on October 21 and transported to the Tompkins County Correctional Facility for central arraignment.
